October 2017 marks the beginning of the qualifiers for The European Championships Individual CrossFit Competition.
The European Championships takes place in January over a single day, attracting athletes from all over the world. From humble beginnings at CrossFit Colchester, this event has grown and grown year after year to become one of the highlights in the CrossFit competition calendar, and one that gets more exciting each year.
Competition Categories & Prizes
CrossFit boasts its accessibility, scalability, and appeal to all - it’s what makes our sport so loved - and The European Championships embraces this with multiple athlete categories:
With 15 qualifying spaces per sex, or 30 teen competitors in total, we’re cultivating the next generation of competitive athletes, and we couldn’t be more excited!
For athletes of 16 years or older, there are 60 qualifying spaces in total, 30 per sex. This category is designed for those who want to compete but aren’t yet ready to come up against top athletes.
Masters (35 yrs+)
As with the teens, this category has 15 qualifying spaces per sex, or 30 in total. Working hard to achieve goals in their training, and working hard on the competition floor, this category showcases broad skills and experience.
With 90 qualifying spaces per sex, or 180 total, the RX category of The European Championships is for athletes 16 years and over.
The growth of this competition has meant that The European Championships prize pot has become ever-more impressive: £40,000, including £1,000 per qualifier too, and a £10,000 prize for the overall winner!
